Alex Pilkington

President

Alex A. Pilkington is the current President of CPENG and brings over 25 years of leadership experience and has held executive roles across industry sectors from startups to global Fortune 500 organizations. As a two-time entrepreneur, he has built, operated and scaled both organizations and successfully positioned both for acquisition.

Mr. Pilkington draws his extensive leadership ability and experience from his service as a United States Army Ranger and SOF Operator. He has completed many of the U.S. Army’s most prestigious and challenging leadership schools and programs, trained with many of the world’s most elite special operations groups and highest government agencies. Through these experiences, Mr. Pilkington is able to offer a truly unique combination of experience, insight and leadership to an organization.

Mr. Pilkington has held full executive oversight of Business Operations, Human Resources, Marketing, Sales, Information Technology, Business Development, Finance, Strategy Development and Execution and Risk Management, among others. And has built and managed global and local teams and direct reports.

Mr. Pilkington’s personal philosophy is that he is a student of life and vigorously seeks out opportunities to continue his personal and professional learning and growth. He draws energy from opportunities where he can share his life experiences and lessons learned and uses them to help others grow and benefit as a result.

A servant leader, Mr. Pilkington believes it is his responsibility to lead by example and does this by actively participating in and supporting his community, veterans and service members and as a mentor to young, aspiring leaders. He regularly volunteers his time for a national veteran organization and for his Alma Mater.

Mr. Pilkington has a Master’s Degree in Management, Strategy & Leadership from the Broad College of Business at Michigan State University. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Phoenix and received his Project Management Certification from Boston University.

Joe Long

Treasurer

Joe is a finance leader who enhances the bottom-line of a business by leveraging scarce resources, improving processes, and providing critical business insight.  He has a strong knowledge of retail operations, has been part of executive leadership teams, and supports the business by offering both hands-on and management experience in all aspects of strategic planning, operational finance, and business intelligence.  Joe has been heavily involved in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, inventory management, business intelligence, financial systems, and retail operations
He is an operations partner who collaborates with cross-functional teams, bringing financial acumen and problem-solving skills to drive complex organizational improvements.
Outside of work, Joe enjoys spending time with his wife, children, and family and volunteers for his local school district, youth sports, Boy Scouts, and recently has been involved with the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame.  He enjoys golf and all Philly major sports teams.
Joe currently serves CPENG as Treasurer.

Kirsten Yurich

Secretary

Kirsten is a dynamic and experienced executive who brings together teams, individuals, and stakeholders to create high-performing cultures that outperform expectations.  Kirsten has held executive roles in non-profit and advocacy organizations. She is a published author, research, invited speaker, and adjunct professor at multiple universities. Currently she brings together non-competing CEOs and business leaders as the facilitator of an executive peer-advisory group and provides executive coaching to its members. She is passionate about developing leaders to be better versions of themselves who make better decisions and achieve better results for their companies.

Tom Dunleavy

Board Member

Tom is the Director of Vehicle Valuation at 1st Alert Appraisals – a business improving claims valuations for vehicle owners including consumers, businesses, and lessors. He has more than 30years’ experience including executive management of business development, legal, marketing, operations, and tech development and implementation. His experiences have ranged from startup ventures to Fortune 500 companies – sometimes at the same time.

He previously led the Cynch propane home delivery business for AmeriGas Propane nationwide. This recently acquired business reached profitability for the first time in Tom’s last year in the role. Prior to that he managed a $1.1 billion consumer lease portfolio as a member of the executive team for a subsidiary of Truist Financial.

Tom earned his MBA from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Delaware Valley University in Doylestown, PA. He enjoys spending his free time with his wife, children, and dogs in Plymouth Meeting. He plays ice hockey at Wissahickon Skating Club where he is active in managing the program and is a volunteer for IDOG Rescue which fosters and rehomes Doodle breeds.


Jim Laverty

Board Member


Jim is currently a sales operations consultant, supporting private equity company executive leadership to assess, design, and implement a sales organization founded on operational capability and operational capacity that deliver sustainable growth. Organizations are assisted to optimally drive the rate and pace of growing their sales teams in alignment with corporate strategy and goals.
 
He leverages his multi-decade international corporate experience, at IBM, of accelerating and optimizing revenue growth. His expertise and skill set in process improvement and organizational transformation has been developed through achievements such as:
• Starting up a new sales team in China.
• Getting an established North American sales team back to growth.
• Integrating multiple acquired sales teams across the Asia Pacific region.
• Managing numerous high profile cross functional international projects.
Jim has a MBA from Fordham University and a BA from Moravian University. He has also earned a CFA and Certificate in International Finance. As a lifelong learner, Jim stays current with technology utilized in the sales operations world and received a Salesforce Business Analyst certification.
 
Outside of work, Jim cherishes spending time with his family, helping his wife and daughter with their garden, and is a long-time avid New York Jets fan, who enjoys attending games, practices, and meeting current and former players.

Paul Licata

Board Member

Lehigh Valley Chapter Leader

Paul is the owner of BDi Machinery Sales, Inc. in Macungie, PA, which is a business of importing specialized agricultural machinery for vineyards, orchards, row crop farms, and nurseries. He has more than 25 years’ experience including senior sales, marketing and operations management positions.

Previously, he work at Dormakaba Americas in the security and commercial building access industry, Case New Holland Industrial (CNHI) in the agriculture and construction industries, as well as Lutron Electronics, Co. in the residential and commercial electrical manufacturer industry. Prior to joining Lutron Electronics, Paul held management positions at Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC, and Event Solutions International, Inc. His approach and accomplishments have resulted from a focus on understanding customer needs and closely partnering with sales to drive growth.

Paul earned his Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, PA and resides in Orefield, PA. He enjoys spending his free time being outdoors as much as possible, exercising, and enjoying his passion for automobiles and motorsports.

Mike Pijar

Board Member

Mike is the Director of Manufacturing at ecore International. Prior to ecore, Mike held manufacturing leadership positions at Ross Technology, Dart Container and Ardex Engineered Cements / The W. W. Henry Company.

Mike was CEO/COO of Tank Services where he guided its strategic direction and growth. Prior to Tank Services, Mike was the General Manager of Berner International and Berner Energy Recovery. 

He also worked at Armstrong World Industries.

He has over 30 years of experience in manufacturing operations, process improvement, organizational change, new product development and management.

 

Jim Watkins

Past President

Harrisburg Chapter Leader

Jim is an experienced leader with a diverse background.  In business, he has managed engineering, multi-site manufacturing, quality and regulatory departments.  He has led cross-functional teams, including international partners.

Outside of work, Jim has been active in his church, where he has held various executive leadership roles and committee chair positions.

Jim started and led a networking support group in New England when his employer released over 30 people.  

Upon return to PA, Jim joined, and became a leader in an executive networking group where he built a team that created best practices.  Jim is past President of CPENG and is the meeting facilitator in Harrisburg.
