Impact of Crisis Management on Business Valuation
Crisis management is one of the foundational disciplines of strategic risk management. Crisis management is also a strategic imperative for public and private companies of all sizes and in all industries.
Crises can occur at any time and most companies are under-prepared to promptly and properly respond. Crises come in various forms ranging from catastrophic accidents, loss of key personnel, ethical breach, negative earnings surprise or other financial news, product recall, supply chain disruption, data breach, etc. Crises adversely impact tangible (financial) and intangible (reputation) assets of the firm.
Crises place business valuation at risk, thereby jeopardizing retirement assets, inter-generational wealth transfer and legacy investments. Companies must be prepared with functional plans to help them be ready, respond to and recover from crises. Crisis risk management in the digital age warrants savvy use of social media and other communication methods.
Our January panel is made up of various businesses around the Berks County area that deal with the issues of risk management and in helping firms to mitigate risk. Companies represented on the panel are: Murray Securus (Insurance, Risk Management & Employee Benefits), McKonly & Asbury (CPA Business Advisory Services), Cohen Seglias (Construction Legal and Litigation), M&T Bank (Lehigh Valley Region), and, Materion Corporation (Reading, PA, Global Leader in Advanced Materials). They will share their organizations’ focus on how important analysis and timely communications allow companies to succeed. The panel format will be made up of individual presentations and questions from the attendees.
